Project Goal
Our goal is to raise public awareness about water and wastewater infrastructure by clearly illustrating and explaining, in simple terms, the complex journey that water takes — from its source to the consumer and back to the river.
We have recreated the urban water and wastewater infrastructure of real city – Mykolaiv, Ukraine. The mechanics of the game is simple and engaging. The game turns usual water users into water leaders by giving them tools (cards) to build the network.
As a result of the successful implementation of the project, teachers from 120 public schools in Mykolaiv were trained to integrate this gamification tool into their regular lessons.

Game Description
The game consists of 24 cards, each depicting one of the water infrastructure objects of Mykolaiv. Each card includes a description on the back. The main characters of the game explain how each object works and how it connects to others. Your task is to build the full cycle: from the water source to the consumer, and from the consumer to the point where treated wastewater is discharged. Each card also includes additional questions with answers.
The game can be played in teams as a speed challenge or individually by laying out the cards and reading the descriptions. In the future, the game may be expanded with additional cards.
The project was created with the support of the CIM – Centre for International Migration and Development.

Mykolaiv Water Hub RE:Construction
The project planning and implementation itself is already a showcase. Ukrainian and German architects are uniting their skills and energy to turn old building dated 1917 into an example of sustainable, innovative reconstruction with due respect for the historical context.

Scholarship program for schoolgirls in STEM
The scientific, industrial, and human capital potential of Ukraine’s Southern Region lies in the hands of its youth. We are enhancing this potential by providing financial support, mentorship, and equipment to outstanding schoolgirls with a passion for STEM disciplines, especially in water-related research areas.
