Japanese water reuse technology for resilience of Ukrainian communities

Mykolaiv Water Hub partners with Tokyo-based WOTA to introduce innovative greywater reuse technologies in Ukraine. In 2026, cooperation agreements with four Ukrainian communities opened opportunities for pilot projects. WOTA’s decentralized systems can reuse water for up to 200 cycles, improving resilience where centralized infrastructure is limited.

The project is funded by UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization)

Japanese AI-Driven Road Recovery in Four Ukrainian Cities

Japan’s AI road monitoring technology developed by Tokyo-based startup SMCT is being piloted in four Ukrainian cities, enabling real-time, data-driven road maintenance through municipal vehicles and cloud-based analytics. Already used globally, the rollout shows how international AI solutions can be quickly implemented and scaled in Ukraine through local partnerships in Mykolaiv, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi and Zhytomyr.
