Our goal at Mykolaiv Water Hub is to bring together the strengths and expertise of municipalities, water utilities, companies, startups, and universities to transform the South of Ukraine into a leading region for water-related industries, research, and education.
We are working diligently to develop Mykolaiv into a flagship city of innovative solutions and to become a blueprint for green and sustainable reconstruction, and human capital development.

We promote the development and implementation of innovative solutions for water industry to address the rising water scarcity and security challenges:

ENERGY
We believe that energy sa-ving technologies and clean energy from reusable or low carbon emission sources is key to unlock the sustainable water infrastructure:
- solar desalination
- small-scale hydropower
- biogas from wastewater treatment

URBAN
Cities are growing, and people need more comfortable and resilient urban environments. We support communities on this path through innovation and education. Key areas of our activities include:

Our SDG Focus
Mykolaiv Water Hub works at the intersection of SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
We strengthen water systems as the foundation of resilient cities, support sustainable urban recovery, and promote innovation and infrastructure development through education, research, and experimental formats. All our initiatives are implemented in close partnership with municipalities, educational institutions, businesses, and international organizations to create long-term, systemic impact.

Scholarship program Girls in STEM
The scientific, industrial, and human capital potential of Ukraine’s Southern Region lies in the hands of its youth. We are enhancing this potential by providing financial support, mentorship, and equipment to outstanding schoolgirls with a passion for STEM disciplines, especially in water-related research areas.
Knowledge and Technology Transfer for Ukraine
To rebuild Ukraine’s war-damaged water infrastructure through climate-friendly, EU-aligned recovery. MWH and GWP unite German and Ukrainian experts, support key utilities, and develop a roadmap for resilient reconstruction.
Exchange for Ukraine Program: capacity building for water utilities
The Exchange for Ukraine Program, initiated by Leading Utilities of the World a network of the developed world’s best performing and most innovative water and wastewater companies and Mykolaiv Water Hub, facilitates peer-to-peer knowledge sharing for Ukrainian water utilities.
Infrastructure Fab Lab in Mykolaiv
Fablab for Mykolaiv is an open collaborative workshop in which a wide variety of objects, sensors or machines can be manufactured by computer-controlled machines.The concept revolves around democratizing access to tools for innovation, prototyping, and manufacturing, allowing anyone from hobbyists to entrepreneurs, to bring their ideas to life.
