HUB RE:construction
Innovations, ideas and creativity need physical space!
In the beginning of 2024 Mykolaiv Water Hub has selected the municipal building in Mykolaiv that will be renovated using the most innovative technologies and approaches.
The project planning and implementation itself is already a showcase. Ukrainian and German architects are uniting their skills and energy to turn old building dated 1850 into an example of sustainable, innovative reconstruction with due respect for the historical context.
The building shall provide space for co-working, conference room and water laboratory. The garden behind will be used as a demonstration plot for rain harvesting technologies.

RE:Building and Innovations
The primary goal is to develop an architectural project that emphasizes energy independence and the sustainable use of water. A strong focus was placed on preserving the historical identity of the building by incorporating local limestone and maintaining its architectural character, all while respecting the surrounding low-rise historical structures.
The project is envisioned as a pilot initiative that can be quickly and efficiently implemented, serving as a model for further expansions and setting an example for similar future projects. To accelerate the planning process, particular attention will be given to ensuring accessibility for different user groups and designing the site layout with a focus on storm-water drainage.
This will align with the city’s broader storm-water management strategy and integrate with the future pedestrian street planned in front of the site.
